Lincoln MKS

Sorry I meant to type MKS. How does the THX certified stereo system sound compared to the Lexus systems or Mark Levinson if you had it, does it have DVD-A playback capability? Can you play a DVD movie in the MKS and watch it through the nav screen?

Nice car you picked up! While the IS-F is my dream car, I can certainly understand your need for something more all-weather. Glad you supported Ford too. Out of the Big Three, I think they have their heads up their asses the least.
One gripe though about Ecoboost... there's nothing really "eco" about it. It gets the same mileage as anything else, if not worse. For should dump the name and come up with something that announces the theme of power, since that's what these Ecoboost engines seem to specialize most in.
Enjoy your ride!

Model - HP/Torque, MPG (City/Highway), Drive Config, Weight
Ford Taurus SHO Ecoboost - 365/350, 17/25 AWD (4400 lbs)
Lincoln MKS Ecoboost - 355/350, 17/25 AWD (4400 lbs)
Infiniti M45x v8 - 325/336, 14/20 AWD (4176 lbs)
Audi A6 4.2 v8 - 350/325, 16/23 Quattro AWD (4211 lbs)
Lexus GS 350 v6 - 303/274, 18/25 AWD (3965 lbs)
BMW 535i v6 - 300/300, 17/25 x drive AWD (3946 lbs)
Ford Flex Ecoboost - 355/350, 17/22 AWD (4839 lbs)
Infiniti FX50 v8 - 390/369, 14/20 AWD (4575 lbs)
Infiniti FX35 v6 - 303/262, 16/21 AWD (4299 lbs)
Acura MDX v6 - 300/275, 15/20 AWD (4550-4600 lbs)
Buick Enclave v6 - 288/270, 16/22 AWD (4985 lbs)
Taurus SHO and MKS with Ecoboost weigh over 400lbs more than the AWD v6 GS and 535, but has a much higher output with similar fuel economy. The EB engines easily outclass (both output and fuel economy) the v8's in the current M45x and A6 4.2.
In the even heavier crossover application, the Flex EB compares quite favorably in power and fuel economy with similar v6 offerings.
Compared to the older v8's the Ecoboost engines easily best these engines in power and fuel economy. I think if you compare them to all the newer v8's being offered, like Infiniti's 5.0 v8 or Mercedes new v8, the EB v6 will be on the lower end of the power spectrum (mid 300 hp vs upper 300/low 400 hp) but still has better EPA. I don't think the Ecboost name is all marketing hype.

Also, real world driving MPG's tend to be different than the EPA estimates with certain motors. I think I had been gathering my information from what a few major car mags have said about their Ecoboost tested cars (lower MPG's). But all that could be lead-foot driving too. Would be interesting to hear your own mileage results later down the road once you've got some miles going.
Thanks for the chart again!

Excellent breakdown! It does look like there are some advantages to the Ford engine. What I'm thinking however are the 0-60 numbers, keeping MPG's in mind. This is what really tells the power, output, and efficiency story. A ton of horsepower on paper may not produce the optimum results.
It's not a sports car but it can get out of its own way.
