My Wal-Mart auto service fails

I feel bad you had to drive all that way just to find a Wal-Mart. Not one mechanic in SF proper? And you did it all on wire-exposed tires? Not safe. =(
And I wouldn't expect much from Wal-Mart in the first place. It's not known for quality anything, just bargains.

I brought my Camry there before I was on air once. They wouldn't do an oil change because
1) I had a CF hood and they didn't want to be liable for cracking it/not latching it right and it flying off.
2) My car was too "low" to drive on the rack. I was lowered 1.8" at the time with a lip.

If you want to save money you should just change your oil yourself, it is a pain but not that difficult. I agree with most not to expect quality or anyone really knowing anything about what they do at Wal-Mart but we are talking about a simple oil change and installing tires. Not very difficult and pretty hard to screw up even for a novice.
By the way, how much was the oil change and tire rotation at Walmart compared to a Toyota/Lexus dealership? Is it significantly cheaper. I used to drive out of the way to get my Lexus serviced at a Toyota dealership because I thought I was saving some money until I found out the Lexus dealership charges LESS now for most parts and service work including oil changes and tire rotations and they are right near me. I guess they got tired of losing a bunch of business to the Toyota dealerships because I would see alot of Lexus vehicles getting serviced at the Toyota dealership and not many people using the Lexus dealership.

Wal-Mart are you kidding us.. What?! I can understand if you got a clunker but I don't care how bad times are - you don't take any decent car to Wal-Mart, I wouldn't even take a new Ford or Chevy there.. Really, you could have taken your car to ANY Dealer even a Chevy dealership and would have came out better.. Whats wrong with the Independent Tire Shops - they can get you tires cheap and do a simple oil change..

They have costco at daly city that can Change tires for you and they did a great job for my old car. It's around the serramontey mall, it's not far from San Francisco I used to live on Geary, pm me for the address of costco if you want. But I don't know if they change oil but there is also jiffy lube that does oil change around the place

The only chains I would trust for tires is Costco, America's Tire and Big O. As for oil changes, I'd much rather do it at the dealer than Jiffy Lube even though I DIY those.
