So, you could ram a truck into him and the bags would not deploy. Then again, ramming a truck has done more damage than just making the bags come out...

don't you have to be going a certain speed? I hit a high curb last year, after swerving out of the way of another car, and jamming the brakes. The air bags did not deploy, but the body shop couldn't say if it was because the damage was below the sensors, or because the car slowed down before impact.

I think its speed and decelaration rate. I have seen car sitting still and get hit by another car, and the airbag deployed.

I think its a combination of things. The speed and a weight sensor on the seat. I mean, if there is no one in the car, there is no need to deploy the airbag.

Off topic....I've seen an accident once where an E350 t boned a Grand Marquis, he was going pretty fast and failed to stop at the stop sign. Anyways, Grand Marquis looked totaled and E350's airbags did not deploy......

um...isn't there a tiny magnetic ball in the center of the car that will be released once enough force is exerted onto the car to release that ball?

It depends. First since you probably are 4 foot 3 you might be able to head butt it head on.
