My girlfriends Honda Element..... it's an ugly toaster on wheels
BUT...it's 4WD, economical, dependable, & you can fit a damn horse into the back of it!
So, all these things have turned me into an Element lover...

Toyota bB / Scion xB and Honda Fit aren't the most beautiful cars, but they are awesome suburban haulers. They're very cute in the slightly ugly and aloof way.

I have a few.
2002-2003- bugeye Subaru WRX- not a great looking car, but the one that sparked the U.S. turbo, awd revolution.
2004-2006- Pontiac GTO- many slammed the car for it's bland styling, but I love it, it is so clean and the power of the LS V8's is not bad either.
1998-2002 BMW Z3 and M coupe- Many people just do not like the styling, but especially with the M coupe it has a unique style that just stands out.

Yes, but ugly can be fun (at least in some of the examples mentioned).

I always thought the Subaru SVX was cool. Not too many others agreed.

Those half-retractible windows, with the built-in seams, on the SVX were ridiculous.

Well, yes, but actually more of a European response. The Merkur XR4TI, as well as the larger, more expensive Scorpio, were German designs from Ford's German arm. And, to put it bluntly, their reliability s**ked.
