There's no question that the 3Gen Prius has a well-engineered, efficient drivetrain, but its interior quality and sheet metal are a BIG letdown from the 2Gen model. Of course, that lightness and flimsiness contributes to its superb gas mileage.

Have to say the Equinox made me look twice...it is that well put together and stylish on the outside.
Have you had a chance to drive one? Its platform, as I understand it, is shared with the new Cadillac SRX.....and a possible new Buick design that may or may not see actual production.

I'd have to agree more on the so-called "Truck" part of the list than the car part.

Surprised this thread wasn't updated after the win. (unless I'm missing some other thread).

Anyway, FORD FUSION it is!

I think it's well deserving. Congrats to Ford. Hopefully they keep this trend up. I really want to see American cars become world leaders.

I actually have a problem with the Ford Fusion winning this and MT COTY. The Fusion has been refreshed, not redesigned. Yes they added a hybrid which is pretty slick but I don't really agree with all of the press that the car is getting when 90% of it has been out on the market for the last 3 years.

I am not trying to knock Ford because they are making huge strides, but I think it's just a little unfair for some truly new cars to get shafted because Ford refreshed the Fusion

Also, JB, North American Car and Truck of the Year are different than Motor Trend's car, truck, and SUV of the year.

This is an unusual update. Because the Fusion actually changed very significantly while carrying over some of the sheetmetal (mainly the cabin areas). Read any review and they point out that it doesn't even feel like the same car that it was from '06-'09. It's not just a new grill and headlights.

So yeah, it is well deserving of the award.
