Default Happy 30th Birthday, Mercedes W126 S class

By chance, I came across this article on www.autozeitung.de wishing the Mercedes W126 S class a happy 30th birthday. This is my favorite S class of all time, partly because there used to be one in our family in the day. What a great machine it was and what an incredibly timeless design it possesses in my opinion. Even today, she's still handsome, elegant and simply beautiful. You can see them quite often in Stuttgart and they still turn heads.

Wow!

An interesting fact provided by the short article was the aerodynamic drag coefficient: 0.36, which at its time made it more aerodynamic than a Porsche 928!

Happy Birthday, W126.

For some reason I just can't stand the W126. My favorite S class happens to be W140, in fact I think its one of the most elegant luxury sedans ever, which at the same time combines insane stature and road presence.

man, you know the luxury marques are penny pinching when there aren't different variations of a model for every type of occassion. =/

I got one of these, a 91 fully loaded 560 sel with 15,000 miles, besides my es it is my true pride and joy, such a timeless and elegant car. The w140 would have been such a better car of it was a reliable but blk or white 97-99 s500 just screams presence on the roads, still today more so then the model that came after it

I had the 420SEL and 560SEL and loved them especially the 560SEL. Sold her when she had almost 300K miles.

somehow, I always see those models always portrayed as the ultimate gangster/mafia mobiles with the lorenzo rims

I loved it in the movie with G. Clooney and Nicole Kidman...can't remember the name I think they used the S320 though
