It's a GX... you know, off road, rugged, why would you want it to look like a sissified RX?!?!?!

No offense to RX owners of course.

It follows the design direction seen in the 2010 LS and 2010 ES refreshes, and it also follows the design direction of the LX interior. Given the sort of vehicle the GX is, you cannot expect the same styling cues from the RX to be utilized.

Also is it confirmed this will not have Remote Touch? Maybe this picture that we are looking at is a base model?

Its possible its a base model? Maybe all models have a NAV centerstack? We are not sure yet.

THe button to the right of the screen is a Map button.

I dont mind it, however it looks unfinished. As pointed out the lower center console looks crappy as does the steering wheel. I do like the partial leather dashboard, and they seem to be incorporating more wood trim back into the design.

Thanks G. Well Lexus might be smart here. Surely they are those that want a Lexus SUV but might hate the new "remote touch". So they can keep the touch screen with the GX.

i think the idea is that when you are going off road, the sensitivity of the remote touch will not work well.

Still, I think it's important that when Lexus comes up with such a huge interior-changing innovation as the Remote Touch, the entire lineup's interiors reflect this change to make the brand as a whole a) feel more in tune with one another and b) make it seem like Lexus is fully behind Remote Touch. Every review I've read says Remote Touch is amazing and way better than any another screen controlling apparatus out there so why not? You see BMW, Audi and Mercedes interiors designed around their respective controllers. The reason why the new GX is not is plain and simple; if the current GX is anything to go by, it's based too closely upon the Prado, and they were too lazy to engineer a new interior specifically for the US market.

That said, I like the touch screen better than Remote Touch, so whatever...

I disagree that it is a consequence of the prado. The Highlander and Rx350 are co-developed together and so are the LC and LX570 and those look nothing like one another.

And why can't Lexus have a remote as well as default touch screen?....the driver can decide for himself....stuck in traffic us the mouse...on the move use the touch screen....having this would settle all arguments about which is better.

Agreed about the Highlander and the RX350 but the LX570 and the LC? Really?

I'm basing my thoughts about the GX/Prado based off the last generation, where the GX was quite literally a rebadged Prado.

For sure. The LX570 and LC look nothing a like...even the steering wheels are different

Yes I agree. The GX470 was an exact copy except of the Prado.
