This time around, it is more separated from the Prado...still has similarities, but the differences are more than skin deep. I have to see the rest of the interior to fully develop an opinion, but so far it looks to me like a simpler version of the LX interior, and it has some of the sumptuous quality of the LX interior.
Before Remote Touch came out, I posted a thread about the possible new Lexus controller, in which I advocated having both a touchscreen and controller, should they go this route. However, it's been reported that the Remote Touch system is designed to go in conjunction with dashboards that are pushed forward, opening up extra space--the screen put forward out of reach. As someone who's tried Remote Touch, there's no use for a touchscreen. Remote Touch is right at the fingertips. By comparison, the Acura controller, and the Infiniti combination of touchscreen and controller are both a closer dash and a forward mounted control--in both cases you have to reach out to touch the controls. The Lexus system has the Remote Touch controller by the center armrest. In summary, Remote Touch is designed to take over the touchscreen function--and I have no problem going from a touchscreen car to a Remote Touch one and vice versa. However, the design is such that a Remote Touch vehicle will have no touchscreen, and it will have the screen far ahead.
This is one of the most irritating things about Lexus SUVs, IMO. The LX and GX have never had black interior when, oddly enough, it is one of the most sought after colors in a luxury vehicle.

I really don't understand
That is what has always stopped me from really looking at one. I loved the GX when it came out, wife loves it now but she wants black leather.
The new Prado interior and this new GX interior look almost nothing alike. There is far more differentiation than the previous-gen Prado compared to the previous-gen GX.
