2010 Toyota X saloon
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/244171/
This is the new shape Toyota X saloon, which the company hopes is a match for the BMW 5-series
On paper, the uppercrust rear-drive Mark X is very much a machine in the BMW mould, although it’s on the market in Japan for thousands of pounds less.

This latest-generation X kicks off in three grades, standard, premium and sports type. It also boasts a fair helping of Lexus tech underneath to push dynamics and image.
There are two petrol V6 engines available; the 200bhp 2.5-litre engine is a detuned version of the 4GR-FSE unit from the Lexus IS250.
Likewise, the range-topping 314bhp 3.5-litre engine is shared with the Lexus GS350. A six-speed auto transmission is standard.
With front double-wishbone and rear multilink suspension, the 4730 mm Mark X is again not far off the Lexus IS/GS family, but the cabin treatment is more dour and workmanlike, and highly conventional.
The Mark X will be formally unveiled at this Wednesday's Tokyo motor show, but is not expected to come anywhere near Europe.
Instead, this will be Toyota’s BMW wannabe in Japan and some parts of Asia.

The exterior looks good, curvy styling cues done right IMHO.
Interior looks pretty good, but I want to see it with different trims.
If they actually unveil it in Tokyo, that will be interesting since Toyota (so far) never announced the new Mark X would be unveiled there. That means there could be potentially more unannounced unveilings.

Forgot to add, size-wise this is actually a bit closer to the 5/GS than it is to the 3/IS. This is certainly a bigger car than the 3/IS.
To compare to the IS, the Mark X is 6 inches longer, about the same width and height, and a 5 inch longer wheelbase.
To compare to the GS, the Mark X 4 is inches shorter, about 2 inches narrower, similar height, and identical wheelbase.
Also compared to the Crown, the Mark X is 4 inches shorter, about 2 inches narrower, similar height, and identical wheelbase.
The Crown and GS are almost identical in body dimensions. The IS uses a shortened version of the Crown/GS platform. The Mark X uses the regular (non-shortened) version of the same chassis, thus having the same wheelbase as the Crown and GS. Size-wise though, the Mark X is in between the IS/3 and GS/5/Crown being slightly closer to a GS-sized car.
