I mean, when you compared the total land area of Japan against let's say USA or Canada, you can tell that Japan is teeny in this regard.
Yet even with their abundance of public transportation (esp. trains), they still buy automobiles in the THOUSANDS (every single month).

Yeah and we may be big but our popl'n density is sparse on average. Of course Toronto and Vancouver skew it a bit.

Also what makes Japan different from other markets is demographics. Japan is aging and 99% Japanese.

True true and unfortunately that works against us for everything because we have such a small population in comparison to land size (and remember, there are people in the arctic). Plus, our major cities are far apart (the closest being Calgary-Edmonton in Alberta and Toronto-Montreal).
