I (almost) ordered a purple Challenger R/T today.

I'd get tired of the car before the color. Chrysler products don't impress me wth their build quality, although the Challenger body style is neat.

Only you can decide what's best for you. I do vividly remember you mentioning this color and this car in a few posts here in Car Chat. It's kind of like you asked for it and now they've built it.
Yes and no. The Challenger is nice-looking, but what I really wanted to see was a new retro Road Runner.....without screwing around trying to restore an old one. Even with the notorious Chrysler cheapness in build quality, I probably WOULD order a Road Runner if they did one......especially in purple.

Of course, we don't always get exactly what we want in life, and sometimes have to make choices......especially when car-buying.

sounds like you've given it some more serious thought and have zero'd in to what you really want

Hopefully they'll make one sooner rather than later

Talk about poor build quality, ancient design, inefficiency, unsafe, gross polluter, nothing like a Dodge from the 60 or 70's. Restoring one of these is a sinkhole for money and not even doable since he already noted the lack of garage, etc.

Chrysler, except for the lousy non-power drum brakes that were too fade-prone (and dicey in the mountains), built some of the most durable cars on the road in the early-to-mid-60s. Though they kept the durability of their engines (especially the indestructible Slant-Six) and automatic transmissions, their overall quality, in general, started to decline in the 1967 model year, accelerated in 1968, worsened drastically in 1969, and, by 1970, bordered on junk for a number of them. The Chrysler muscle cars of the period, though, were wildly styled......and painted......and, in many cases, sold on their snazzy looks rather than quality. (That also seems to be the case with today's Challenger as well).

Interesting....at GM, it was just the opposite of Chrysler. GM quality (except for their poor, fade-prone, acrylic-lacquer paint jobs) began to improve in 1967 and, by 1970, was probably the best in the domestic-car industry.

Forget about the Challenger, and get rid of the Subaru too, & write a cheque for a LS460 AWD
You only live once, and even though you believe in heaven, they probably don't need cars in heaven, so enjoy the best NOW

LS460 AWD, now that's an excellent idea! Luxury, style, power, refinement, bad-weather capability.

I may (?) indeed have a new Lexus AWD product some day, Andrew, but probably not an LS460 (The RX350, for example, will handle deeper snow much better). I'm fairly well-off economically, even in retirement, but an LS460 is still a bit much.

Mmarshall, what did you think about the quality of the purple paint job? Usually Chrysler's paint jobs are lousy.

Consider cherry-picking a garage-queen Lexus CPO GS350AWD or LS460AWD.
