I never liked the Alphard's exterior design but the interior is sooo luxurious. Also, there's a hybrid version.

I think its a mistake for Toyota not to try to incorporate cars like this into their US line

That's a nice van, but that would never sell here in the US. That Royal Lounge model is hot, but even if they did sell something like that here, I'm sure it would have to be in the $50-6K range?? It would just be too much for a Toyota, much less a minivan.

if it were a chrysler or maybe even honda minivan you guys would say it sucked.

we always get the "why don't they bring it over here" posts, but don't forget we get vehicles they don't like the highly successful Lexus ES.

You're right, every middle-upper class family now has one in place of their previous Harriers / RX. It's pricey too, the '09 starts at Rp 890M to Rp 1.1 B (roughly US$89 k - $110k).

i don't agree, even if it has a honda badge but if it has the same quality and attention to details, i have no problem owning it. this is the only minivan (estima being the close second) that i like

i can see why they don't bring the car over, it's narrow and 3rd row seat isn't that big, so for american size it's not as applicable. but at the same time considering the sales of minivan here and that there are so many freaking suv sizes out there anyway, i don't see problem having another size of minivan

From the Honda camp

At the moment, this is my favorite van from Honda.

Honda Elysion

IMHO, this is definitely the best Honda van to-date and is definitely more inspiring than some of the crap vehicles that American Honda is making (like Ridgeline, Pilot SUV and whatnot).

If Honda were to import this vehicle and release their 'better' vehicles, then maybe they wouldn't be declining as much as they're experiencing now.

Just my two cents

Honda has three van-type offerings. You can look them up on Wikipedia for pictures:

Odyssey: similar to the first-generation one sold in the US, it continues as a large 4-door wagon-type car.

StepWGN: a tall bread-van-type boxy body with sliding doors. In terms of van-type utility, this is the entry model.

Elysion: basically like Toyota's Alphard, a high-end luxury van.

true that. hehe, my dad is one of those that decided to stick with his Harrier whilst everyone else gets an Alphard. But still Harriers are just as popular as Fortuners it seems.
