the altima isn't selling anywhere near the Accord/Camry here for some reason, and the CVT transmission they are using do not help either, heard one too many stories locally here about busted altimas with CVT trouble.

I actually like some Nissans (new Maxima), but I think the commercial is cheapness at it's finest. When I turn on TV, I don't want to see a nice new car being damaged and abused. It's no different than self mutilation, throwing godiva chocolate down the drain, or watching a IS-F drive off a cliff. People should take care of their investments, and Nissan is making it look like their customers trash their cars or have no control over their lives.

I also agree that commerical is pretty lame, but let's not forgot who the target audience market is. Most of us here on the Lexus forum have a different idea of what a car should be and why we buy them. There are some differences between someone who shops for a Nissan Altima as opposed to a Lexus ES350.

Those who shop for luxury or higher end cars tend to have a more romantic notion of cars and more viceral expectations. The Nissan Altima targets more of the average, utilitarian marget and durability is probably at the top of the list of what they are looking for in a car.

Um yeah...the Nissan commercial still sucks.
