Looks like BMW will continue to sell many 3 series.

It looks like a semi-major refresh of the current car. I thought it was going to be a complete redesign?

As someone who has spent lots of time behind the wheel of the current 3, it's a nice car, but the interior styling from BMW interiors is just plain terrible. It's quite funny to see the media blast Lexus for not making a car as "good" as this thing. As nice as they are, they're extremely overrated. Give me an IS350 anyday.

competition just got a whole lot stiffer. Lexus is gonna have to really up its game for the bread n butter models.

rolling shot. exhaust note reminds me of an infiniti G. Or did infiniti steal that from bmw originally ??-

PICS:
Christ... they got a f--kin' Bangle clone driving this one...

...or IS IT a clone????

I mean BMW and Audi are using no imagination right now in regards to design outside the R8. It works for them, people like the 1 shape different sausage lengths method but its not for me. I'm a car guy and I confuse new BMWs

BANGLE FTW!!! Never thought I'd say that.

FYI, the 3 has to get bigger as the 1 gets bigger and expands.

Not sure where the picsof the white one with the nicer wheels is from. It definitely looks ok. Here are some more pics (and a link to many more). I don't think that this car looks very special, but many are loving it on the BMW sites.

It will sell like hotcakes being a 3 series however.

Over the years, I've come to think of the 3-series this way... "Oh, another BMW 3-series and another BMW driver." In other words, the car itself doesn't seem to matter. It's more of a rolling statement of class and character content. Probably bad of me to think this, but that's just where my mind goes.

I fully expect the next 4 door sedan 3 series to look better than the current one (which is not especially attractive IMO). Looks like it's going the route of scaled-down new 5 series, and that's a plus.

Looks like a mini-5-Series, which is appropriate.

You can't deny family design genetics. It's distinctive, albeit unimaginative.

It further anchors brand recognition.

Parallel that to Lexus, and you can see how Lexus can sometimes look a bit "confused." With all the different styles, it can seem a bit discongruitous and unfamiliar. Yes, Lexus designs are fresh and somewhat daring, but it doesn't encompass a well defined aesthetic mantra.

This is perfect. I had originally been planning on moving up from my E46 to a 5 series a year or two from now, and would have if the current model maintained E60 proportions. But when the F10 was introduced, I decided I don't want that overweight pig. Looks like the new 3 is going to be just slightly smaller than what the 5 should have been, so it's right up my alley.

this could literally be any car on the road, remove the BMW headlights and it is more generic than a Camry.

People complain that all Audi sedans now look alike. Now it seems BMW is heading in the same direction. I much prefer Lexus's take on making each sedan have it's own character and identity. So much more interesting than the one style fits all (boring). Some of the most iconic and successful sedans of the past 30 years have looked nothing like their big or little brothers.

indeed... why should everything be aimed at same crowd?

You can not have IS be mini LS, because LS is selling to 60+ crowd on average.

it is ok to have some cues, but I really dont think 5 series drivers will like 20k cheaper car looking 90% like it.

Of course, it will be great improvement for 3 series :-)
