1SICKREVIEW 2007 Lexus GS 450h

I think Toyota spends more on lightweight materials than GM. Remember that the GS probably already has a lot of aluminium (hood, trunklid, suspension bits etc) that's built into all GS models. Whereas in the case of the Tahoe, it could be only the hybrid model gets it and not the rest of the lineup. In this case, Toyota's already ahead by spending more on aluminium rather than making it seem like a special item available on hybrid models only.

Seeing as these are just conventional V-8s...the 450h weight isn't much more considering the 2 electric motors etc...
Hood is....I believe some suspension bits..trunk feels like steel...

Good question...with what could be wedding bells ringing and my G/Fs lease up, returning to school, move in a new place, things here are slow...mods are on hold,....she might even drive the car and I might get something else...I will have a thread on our shopping choices soon.

I dunno, you tell me. You guys are the Lexus peeps
The GS 450h weighs 4100lbs as I stated. A M45 weighs 4000 lbs, only 100lbs less. E550 is 4030, a BMW 550 is right around 4000 lbs. An A6 4.2 is 4200 lbs, AWD usually adds 200 lbs so if it was FWD, it would be 4000 lbs or so.

Yes is quite good. Forget the elec. motors or the inverter. The battery already weighs 99lbs or thereabouts. Granted, you're swapping the big, heavy 8-spd tranny of the GS460 (it's 8-spd, right? or is it still 6-spd?) Either way, it's a large automatic for a much much smaller "Power Split Device" or planetary CVT so there are weigh savings there.
