The LS 460 Sport is another half hearted effort by Lexus in my opinion. It should stand out more from the standard LS, much in the mode of the M-series or AMG.

To me its the same formula the Germans use. Different wheels, a kit ,a drop...the LS sport gets a different grill, the Germans do not.

This is not a direct competitor to M-series or AMG but a competitor to M-sport and AMG sport parts. Those are not M/AMG cars, but add the kit, wheels and I think a drop .

G Man, if you are referring to the fact that the S with AMG parts gets a unique bumper whereas Lexus has chosen to tack on side skirts like a Corolla S, then I definitely agree with you.

Glued on aero parts for a $70,000+ car is completely unacceptable.

Thats kind of what I am talking about. They upgarded the LS sport like they upgarde a Camry sport. This is a $70000+ flagship, it deserves better. This might be the cheapest way to mod the LS, but its not the best way.

Interesting review, but I take anything from Auto___ with a huge grain of salt. It's a tag team with their 001 seemingly praiseful while 009 writes tabloidy baiting headlines. I'd like to see another, more reputable source test the LS 460 Sport, and should I get the chance, try the car myself to compare with prior LS 460 drives.

Good point made about the prevalence of AMG pkg S-Classes in CA, FL, etc. I do see the LS 460 Sport getting into that market. I do wonder though if Lexus could have added a special badge, e.g. SportDesign, to further distinguish the model.

I do like the fact the sport has a drop... coz Lexus cars are jacked up way to much! I'm all for better handling, now if Lexus would introduce it's own ABC (AIRMATIC BODY CONTROL) offered in S550, that would be truly awesome.

The LS sport would be the perfect car to put in standard active suspension. The Japanese has the edge over the German in electronics, they can take advantage of it by appling it to their suspension.

Thrilled to hear that the LS is getting some love and attention
The toms is perfect

Those slap-on kits got to go. Even a WALD add-on is a million times better than this.

Yeah they sure do...just like BMW and Mercedes copying Lexus' disconnected exhaust tip bezels in the bumper.

I'll have to defend Auto Spies and Agent 001 on this. We were driving buddies for the day at the GX460 Press Event and we had a pretty good discussion about the "sport" packages for these large luxo-sedans. This is how he ranked em:

1) BMW 750i Sport
2) Lexus LS460 Sport
3) Mercedes Benz S550 Sport

His reason for the LS ranking above the S550 was overall feel and size. The S550 is a pretty big car and he felt it was not as nimble overall like the LS or the 7. His daily is a BMW 750i.
