While Auto Spies is often to be taken with a grain of salt (if that), they do have some surprisingly nice things to say about the 2010 LS. Considering that they are typically one of the most anti-Lexus sites out there, this is quite an interesting quote:
"The Spies were hard at work today capturing the first real-life shots of the 2010 Lexus LS Sport and Hybrid.
We got a chance to drive them today and although the Sport version of the LS sedan still doesn't rival the drive of a BMW 7-Series, it is a better driver now than a Mercedes S550 sport.
The TFT instrument screen (replaces tradition gauges with laptop-like screen to display speeed/tach, etc.) only available on the the LS Hybrid was also really cool.
Look for our video tour coming soon...For now, enjoy the pics!"

The 600hL doesn't look too bad in that pic, IMO.
Also, not a fan of the two tone leather but I am definitely digging the unpolished wood. I am looking forward to the rest of their review.

umm maybe i don't follow the ls460 sports much, but i have to ask, what's so special about the car compared to the previous touring? i don't think there is any extra performance related items added to this? if that's the case, in wonder what makes it better than s550 sport now that it couldn't before

The Sport has Brembos, and a Sport tuned Suspension, among other things. The 600h doesn't look bad, but it looks far to cheap for a car with a sticker of more than $100K. The 09 LS600h looked much better and much more expensive.

true, forgot about the brembo brakes and pedal shift. down shift rev match, is it just on the sport version? it's something new starting 2010? sports suspension i am not sure, the old touring also said sport tuned air suspension, i couldn't feel much difference but the thicker sway bar helped

I think a sport version of the LS will allow it to compete a bit better when compared to Benzs, but its like putting brembo brakes on a soft cloud. It seems slapped on. This car was not initially developed to have a sport version. I dont think they will be seling many sport versions considering the people who drive Ls' are usually old as hell. ( excluding the few people on this forum who have them)

Well if you come down here to south Florida, you'll see at least 40% of the S-classes have the AMG sport package. So while it may seem like a contradiction, there are a number of customers out there who like the idea of it.

I'm impressed if it's a better drive than the S550 Sport.
I'm happy to see Lexus offering a 'sport' version to go ahead against the s-class and 7-series. Those who don't see a point in having a sport version can save some money and buy the regular model instead. Win-win situation!
