Production of the vehicle currently is based in Austria but is moving to BMW Manufacturing Co.’s facility in Greer next year. The plant is nearing completion of a $750 million expansion, including the construction of a second assembly facility and expansion of the paint shop. The X3 will be built in the new assembly area while the X5 and the X6 sports activity vehicles will be built in the original assembly area.

Looking more like an X5 is a positive imo. I'd still take an RX over the X3 or GLK.

I like the front end and short overhang of the front wheel, but something about the short wheel base /dimension and back window swoop vaguely reminds me of the AMC Gremlin.

Ironically, I hold the X3 in the same regard as the Gremlin.

Come on you guys, I would not compare the X3 to a Gremlin. The X3 as boring as it looks, is actually a very exciting suv to drive, too bad every other aspect of the car is lacking

Have you ever driven an Gremlin? How about an AMX-GT Gremlin like the one below? How can you say it isn't exciting to drive? It was the "original hot hatch"! j/k

Of course I'm not saying it is anything like the BMW to drive (or quality, etc) ... for some reason the styling cues of the size and swoop remind me of one.

I have actually drove a Gremlin a long time ago, but not a AMX-GT Gremlin, in fact, I didnt even know a sport version existed. Then again why would any one built a Gremlin sport to start with. I cant imagine the AMX-GT Gremlin sold too well. Like Obama said, you can put lipstick on a pig and it will still be a pig.

That's a hot Gremlin. But I prefer the look of the Marlin.
