I'm in the waaaay minority here.
I agree also.
I'm trying to like this new 5 series and have been waiting for new pictures. It's too homogenous with S,M,L look ala audi style
As ugly as the current bangle 5 was, at least I can tell it's a 5. As a matter of fact, after seeing all of these pictures, I now have a secret love for the current M5
With this model (esp. with the pics that dashocker posted), it looks like a big M3 sedan.

Not feeling the M sprt pack on 5 series...
GOOD: Test drove 550i, FASTer than it looks for sure !!! Awsome power and well balanced and interior upgrades went 100 times better than pervious E60 int.
BAD: Options will KILL YOU... going from $40some thousand MSRP 528i then fully loaded up close to $70 grand !!! YICKS !!!!! I saw loaded loaded 550I up to 80 some grand !!! Hmm.... if so, then I'm lookin into 740 !!

on another note, for bmw and mb, don't hang on much to the msrp, it's quite meaningless in some sense. right now some will go and pay msrp (that's beyond me), but after a while, prices will drop quite a bit to invoice which will be more "reasonable" (quote on quote). and don't forget how bmw works, most cars are leased, and the msrp is just a number game. a lot of times the lease payment will come out same or less than lexus

740? used car? apple to orange right? if you look at the new 750, i don't know what basic car 80k will get you

I saw my first one at lunch today - a dark blue 535i - and was surprised at how timid the car is in person. It looks like a big 3 Series with the nose of a 7 series, IMO.
I don't know if I would say that my reaction was necessarily good or bad, but it just wasn't what I was expecting. The current E60 was rather polarizing and the E39 was extemely handsome...this new model is just very "oh...ok..."
The rear of this car looks very Japanese to me, and I think I figured out why:

Absolutely beautiful. I have a e60 550i M-Sport, and I think the new 5 is awesome. It looks like an updated e39. Very sharp.

beautiful car but it looks like a big three series to me know. The lines and design cues are getting so similar. Thats bad and good I guess. Its not like the 3 series is ugly, but why do all the bimmers have to look so similar
