There are several threads on this in this forum and in the model specific ones, though your concern for other members is very kind.

In the end, there will be a settlement as always and everyone will be happy.

I have a '07 ES350 and installed the original all weather floor mats when the car was new and have had no problems in almost three years of use. Common sense told me to install the mats on the retaining clips and use just one set of mats instead of stacking one set on top of another. My gut feeling is there is nothing wrong with these Toyota vehicles despite what the government says, but simple human error by not securing the mats, or stacking, or useing the wrong size aftermarket floormats. If I choose not to let the dealer touch my car when the recall fix is available, will this affect the resale value or cause any complications? I think it's almost criminal the way NHTSA is forcing Toyota into this unnecessary recall. Maybe the NHTSA should be investigated!

I agree.
My '10 won't have the brake override system but I'm not worried at all.
Chances of a problem are minute and if it happens, unlike the cop,I'll shift to neutral and have talked to the wife and kids about what to do if the they have the problem.
Doesn't matter what brand vehicle,it's a good idea to talk to family members on what to do in case the problem happens..

You mean it can be ignored? I checked my pedal with mat and it looks like pedal can stuck with some conditions. Chance is very small but it is exist. If it happens I will be prepared.

I have after-market mats, WeatherTech, and there is no possibility of contact. I haven't received my letter yet but am looking forward to it!

I've had my gas pedal to the floor more than not and it's been a non-issue for me. I do not have all-weather mats in the car and the mats are properly secured on the hooks, so I'm not in the least worried.

Since the IS-F is equipped with the Sport pedals do they exhibit the same issue as the usual rubber pedal?

Our car is not mentioned in today's new release:

Default Toyota recalls 110,000 Tundras due to spare tires falling off and rear brake failures

http://www.detnews.com/article/20091...10-000-Tundras

Spare tires are falling off on some of these trucks due to the rear cross member on some 2000-2003 Tundras basically breaking in half due to corrosion. This is also leading to potential rear brake failures.

What in the world kinda weak steel and steel prep processes has Toyota been using on their trucks? This reminds me of the 80s and before when Japanese cars were known to rust to the point of failure long before the rest of the car was ready to give up.

I really hope this won't be an issue on our 2005 4runner. I've checked and I can't find in corrosion on our frame but of course I live in Memphis, TN and we might see road salt, etc about once a year.

Thanks for posting the link xISFx. So if we have the sport pedals installed, I wonder if the darn dealer will remove or attempt to modify the sport gas pedal without asking us when we take it in for any other type of service? I'd be pissed if they take it upon themselves to do so, like they did in modifying peoples floor mats etc... I have been taking my drivers side all weather mat out when I take it in so they don't poke any holes in it.
