Check the Owners' Manual and/or the Maintenance specs. There should be a chart or a graph inside showing what oil viscosity grades to use at what temperature ranges (most auto manufacturers, today, recommend anywhere from 0W-20 to 10W-30, with the most common grades being 5W-20 and 5W-30. In addition, an SAE-class is also recommended (SH, SK, SL, SM, etc.....) As long as your oil meets this criteria, you can use it.
A fas as the SAE-grade goes, you can use higher-letters but not lower. For example, if the recommended grade is SH, and you have an SL or SM-grade, that's fine......you're just using a better-than needed additive package. But don't use a lower-than-recommended package......in other words, if it says you need SM and all you have is SH or SL, than don't use it.

I also don't think it will be harmful to the engine at all but if you have any concern a few quarts from the local auto parts store is still dirt cheap

The oil passages on that RX350 are way improved over the RX330 or of course an RX300 like mine and they can very easily take that oil. That being said, I used a heavy 30, Castrol's 0W30 in my RX300 and have never run into an issue, but that's one of the best oil's on the planet. Check http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php here for more info on oil, too.

Believe me,it's not a question of being cheap.

I replaced the tires on my ES a couple of days after getting the car to a softer riding quieter tire.
I'm never cheap when it comes to my vehicles.
It's a pain to get rid of the oil.
Guys,thanks for the replies.

You could call the service department at the dealership and ask them. I'm sure they'd rather have you come in for an oil change, but maybe they'd give you a straight answer.

Where did you buy the oil, when I bought my 09 Maxima, I had 20 quarts of Castrol 0w-30 in my garage and I took them back to autozone and got store credit.
You could also mix 2 quarts in with whatever other oil you plan to use, the Toyota/Lex 3.5 holds 6.4 quarts and I have put 7 in it.

Toyota uses 10W-30 in the rest of the world. They use 5W-20/0W-20 to meet CAFE, but stick with 5W-20 or 0W-20 if your engine calls for it during the powertrain warranty period.

5W-30
10W-30
(5W-30 is the best choice for good fuel economy, and good starting in cold weather)

Lower viscosities are not just a CAFE issue. They also help get the oil flowing sooner, for better lubrication, on winter cold starts/warm-up, at the cost (sometimes) of some ultimate hot-weather protection.

You can use this oil in your Lexus. it is actually a bettr formulation than U.S. spec oil being that it has a lower phosphorus & sulfur content. Sulfur is know to eat out the cat converter over time thus the lower the sulfur conten the better.. I order this oil through Tischer & currently using it in my GS400 with no issue. This stuff is free for the 335 &

I also got the oil change kit from Tischer.I'll use it for the RX on it's next due change.
I bought the BMW Castrol to do the change at 7500.I never would go the 15K.
I have a oil filter for a 335 you can have for free if you want it..
