Default Airbags Approaching Expiration in Volvo

A good friend has a 10 year old Volvo S70 AWD with a mere 58000 miles. I noticed that the sticker on the door says that next May the airbags will expire. I seem to recall that earlier Airbag cars had a 10 year life expectancy for the bags, but this was later debunked and it's now generally safe to assume the airbags will last for the life of the vehicle.

Or did I NOT remember that correctly?

I believe that all cars are supposed to have an inspection of their airbags at age 10.

Ok I thought it was 6 years but I do recall having the airbags inspected (just like tyres are 6 years old regardless of tread depth).
