Good enough results from the LS to me, not to mention the major price difference. LS for me

I'm surprised by the handling comment for the LS460.

Obviously the 750 will kick its *** around the track. BMW can make a big heavy car feel light on its feet.

They do have a very close race here from a sales standpoint, the S, LS, 7 are all selling about 1000 units per month lately.

Except world wide, the LS is pulling up third maybe even 4th soon.

Lexus did not design the LS sport to be a 7 series killer.

I guess the real question is did Lexus add the sport package for show or to be the king. Did they even compare the car to the 7 series.
I would hope so considering BMW is sport first, luxury second and has made the 7 series sportiest in class for what 3 decades......

Not sure why ANYONE would expect the LS sport to out BMW a BMW.

Lexus is smart, its for those that want some more sport in their LS. Maybe one that looks different. Who knows.

What we do know is Lexus is listening as we HAVE a sport model and not a "coach" one

That's why I said this comparo isn't very interesting--we all knew the result before even reading. Pitting the LS460 Sport against the S550 Sport or the regular 750i would be much more useful information to be had.

I'm looking for global sales numbers, and I doubt LS will be 4th anytime soon.

The S-Class sells around 80,000+ units
The LS sells around 65,000+ units
The 7 sells around 50,000+ units
The A8 sells around 20,000+ units

The LS Sport is a niche model, but the added varieties, AWD etc, serve to expand its appeal. Because Mercedes and Lexus are identified strongly with their largest flagship model, they have a stronger market penetration vs. other lineup vehicles, so in certain international markets, they are ranked #1 and #2 respectively. The LS' highest sales total in recent years has been 71,000+ units annually, with less than half in the US, in some markets it is one of the top selling models of the lineup.

LS460 Sports sounds like oxymoron.

The LS does what it is intended to do and does it exceptionally well. Putting a sport suspension on an LS Lexus is akin to putting a thong on rosie o donnell. Some things are just not meant to be.

Lexus should up the displacement of the 4.6 engine to 5.5 or so to have more torque. The 4.6 in the LS does feel a bit sluggish off the line.

As far as sporty suspension, no thanks, its already too sporty for what it is.

I like the LS more than the BMW but we have to stop making excuses for the LS. The mercedes and BMW provide solid handling and comfort. The Lexus suspension is a joke when driving spiritedly . I know many will say well its not designed for that. BS... we all get a little frisky behind the wheel from time to time. Even if you dont you can still feel the stability in the suspension just making a u turn etc
