I dont think anybody is arguing that it is a nice engine, but most here are saying that its the application in the Genesis that is lacking. This is a award for the engine, not the Genesis V8. Even to that extend, the Genesis V8 is only lacking because the V6 is pretty powerful as it is and some reviews stated that the V6 felt more balance to drive.

The 303 HP GS 350 V6 has the same if not better times in the 0-60 and the quarter mile than the Genesis and you don't think the Genesis should be quicker with that 375 HP?

I am fairly certain that the Genesis would be much quicker if it came with better pneumatics. Power is one thing, how you deliver it to the ground is another.

FWIW
Genesis V-6-3,748 V-8-4,012

It has a 6 speed auto, not an 8 speed.

Out of curiousity
Bentely Brooklands 5853 lbs!!
6 speed auto...fastest, more powerful V-8 in company history

Exactly, great engine but bad application.

I don't think 0-60 time is the Genesis main goal. Just them HAVING a V-8 is a feat in itself. You get low end torque, great acceleration for 99% of people and refinement.

For a base price of 39k you get a 380hp V-8 over the V-6 competition.

I agree, I think Hyundai's V8 Genesis is more symbolic than anything else. Something Acura should have done a long time ago.

Agreed....and with it seemingly going into a Kia sedan and it going into the Equus and it being bored/stroked to a 5.0 liter...it was a good move for them.

If the Genesis was a V-6 only, it wouldn't make half as much noise as it did.

The 2.5L in the Legacy GT has won it before.

Ford Motor Co.: 3.5L EcoBoost Turbocharged DOHC V-6 (Ford Taurus SHO)

Isn't that a new Ford engine?
If so,how can it be a award winner without any track record for reliability and such?

The Ward's 10 best engine is more for performance than relaibility. Look at all the german engines on that list, do you really think they rate relaibility?
