The Hyundai website (which is brand-new for 2010 and has just been redesigned) shows 375 HP and 333 Ft-lbs. of torque for the Tau 4.6L.

http://www.hyundaiusa.com/vehicles/2010/genesis/

Impressive, yes, but nothing compared to the 450 ft-lbs. of torque on the turbo 4.4L V8 I sampled last week on the new BMW 550i GT. That was an ENGINE.

I personally think that the official Hyundai website is bound to be more accurate than Autoblog.

Hmmm....interesting. The website you posted does seem to have some credibility, as it is (supposedly) concerning Hyundai engineers. If so, then, yes, the official Hyundai web site might (?) have to be updated (I've seen manufacturers drag their feet on posting spec-changes on the web sites more than once). Keep in mind, though, that, for acceleration, torque is generally a more important figure than HP. HP comes into play more for high-end top speed.

Usually, yes, that's the case, but both Ford and Hyundai have had inaccurate engine-power figures on their spec-sheets before. Ford, if you will remember, took some heat for overrating the Cobra Mustang's engine (305 HP) some years ago. I test-drove that-generation Cobra, and I agree it didn't have quite the spunk I expected. Some of the older Hyundai 4-cylinders, when I sampled them, ran like slugs, and also felt over-rated as well.

another one. 10more HP is not from autoblog. they don't make that kinda stuff up.

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-relea...-78864767.html

maybe it hasn't arrived yet.

For 2010, the 4.6-liter Tau V8 adds 10-horsepower delivering 385-horsepower and leading Genesis competitors with the highest specific output - 84-horsepower per liter. The 2010 Hyundai Genesis equipped with a Tau V8 engine still will achieve up to 25 miles per gallon on the highway, surpassing many key competitors' V6 models in fuel economy as well as power.

To me they are working hard, they have a V-8 way before Acura. They also showed a S/C at SEMA last year.

Its voted to this list and not the Lexus 4.6

By "S/C", do you mean sport coupe? If so, I didn't notice that from the SEMA pictures. Seems like that, though, in concept, would go head-to-head with the Genesis coupe, which is markedly smaller than the large Genesis sedan.

And, BTW, if you haven't had a chance to test-drive a Genesis coupe, definitely drive the 3.8 Track....you will LOVE it.

Again, since the Ward's 10 Best has a price cap of $54k, the LS460 with Lexus's best V8 offering does not qualify, and the crippled V8 in the qualifying $53,470 GS460 on the other hand has no chance against the Hyundai.

And since the next-generation GS is likely to get another price increase due to rising yens, we'll probably never know if Lexus's 4.6L V8 would've won the Ward's 10 Best if it had been evaluated in its proper form.
