2011 Hyundai line-up to include new Veloster coupe, Elantra MD, Santa Fe and Accent
Hyundai to bring four new models to the market in 2011: the Veloster coupe, new Elantra sedan, Santa Fe and Accent!
Following our most recent Hyundai Tucson pricing announcement is an even more exciting news related to Hyundai cars.
According to John Krafcik, the president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America, the 2011 will be a very busy year with at least four new vehicle scheduled to make their official US premieres. The all-new Elantra sedan, codenamed MD, and next-generation subcompact Accent are already familiar to us, thanks to abundance of spy shots we have seen by now.
In addition, Hyundai also plans to unveil the all-new Veloster coupe and next generation Santa Fe crossover!
Perhaps the most interesting of all four is probably the all-new Veloster coupe, a potential Tiburon replacement. The 2+2 coupe has been first introduced at the Seoul auto show back in 2007 where it received a very positive response from domestic consumers, as well as international media.
While there are no spy shots of the 2012 Veloster out there on the web, we managed to acquire some basic info on its powertrain options. The Veloster coupe powertrain line-up will include two four-cylinder engines, including a base 1.6L GDI four with estimated power output of 145 ponies.
The second engine option will be a 1.6L turbo engine with 175 horsepower, while several other engine options, including a 2.0L four-cyl. engine and hybrid powertrain are also possible to find their way under the hood of Veloster.
The front-wheel-drive Veloster coupe will be available with a six-speed manual tranny. It is also very likely that Hyundai will also offer the Veloster with its new dual-clutch six-speed automatic gearbox, which is currently still under the development.
The Veloster concept car featured an exciting exterior and interior design and that is expected to remain very attractive on a production model as well. According to John Krafcik, the Veloster is not going to be an ordinary styled two-door coupe, but rather a very unique sports car with many segment-first styling elements. Those include a uniquely designed doors and rear hatch.
At this point its worthless to speak about the pricing, but you can expect the entry-level Hyundai sports car to be priced from around $15.000 to $22.000.
There are absolutely no info on the next-generation Santa Fe crossover. We expect the model to incorporate Hyundais latest design DNA and look a bit more aggressive than the current model. We also hope Hyundai will introduce a hybrid version of the 2012 Santa Fe crossover and keep its production in the USA.
More details, on the upcoming Hyundai Elantra and Accent replacements are expected to bow soon. Hyundai will also intensify pre-production testings of both cars, so you can also expect to see more spy shots surfacing to the web within next couple of months.
Seems like there are some very exciting times ahead of us! We are eagerly awaiting all of the aforementioned Hyundai cars to hit the market.

At least the Volester concept didn't look like anything else. And I'm a bit confused as to who will be buying this thing considering Hyundai has a RWD coupe right above it. What would stop someone from putting in a couple of grand more and getting the Gen?

well kind of. but if you look at the price, genesis coupe is significantly more expensive than tibby ever was. and i believe that's the reason why it's not selling. it's 3-4 grand too expensive.

i can definitely see how the front will look like, but i just can't picture the rear.
front is basically a variation of Genus concept. tucson is following that design theme as well.
rear looks like it should be a hybrid..
