Its funny but reviews in EVO/CAR/Top Gear always make fun of the name Honda Legend....I quote "Legend in its own mind"

In America with the 2nd gen it worked well though.

Maybe GM would win the contest for most lame car names.

What about the Saturn Sky? "Sky", by definition, means up and limitless.

If I was making this list, that would be my #1 name.

There are, indeed, a number of wierd vehicle names out there (GM probably isn't any worse than some others in that regard). But, in my book, almost ANY spelled, pronouncable car name beats the alphabet soup you find at some upscale car companies today like Lincoln, Cadillac, and Acura. Lincoln's is probably the most confusing of all.....most of their products start with "MK".

Agreed, as I pointed out earlier, Lincoln alphabet soup names are the worst because their is no intelligence to the Mblahblahnaming/numbering convention (unlike Mercedes, Lexus, BMW names which designate product lines and engine hierarchy).

That's pretty lame but not as lame as (****) Probe.

What I meant by "Sky" was not lameness but an optimistic car name....like the thread topic. To me, it's hard to imagine anything more uplifting than the sky itself.

You point about "Probe", though, was well-taken. That was the exact reaction of some others I know, when Ford first used that name......something done by a Proctologist. (And Mazda, to an extent, must have been insulted as well.....they helped Ford develop that car from the Mazda MX-6 platform)

I see, the Sky does sound uplifting, unfortunately it will go down as another example of a poor quality, poorly-engineered GM car. Makes me wonder if they can recycle the name later.

The new Suzuki Mike reviewed has a horrid name. Isuzu had a public competition and Axxiom or something like that was picked. That was discontinued. I never liked Toyota Paseo much either. Honda Ridgeline is bad and the Saab naming system was fine until the years 1990-1999 came . I also don't like the new Mazda names, much prefer Protege, 323, 626, 929.....

Suzuki likes to use names associated with Japanese culture. That started, of course, with the ill-fated Samurai, which means "warrior".

Agreed...it can't touch the Miata and S2000 for quality/reliability.

It's already been recycled....to some extent. Ford used the name "Skyliner" back in the late 1950's (you might bemember it) for its unique retractible hard-top car that preceeded today's retractible hardtops by some 40-50 years. Buick used the name "Skylark" and "Skyhawk" for some of its smaller models as well.
