Aston Martin Cygnet (Toyota IQ) updated from Geneva (update) starts at $49,500
Earlier this year, we saw photos of Aston Martin designers working on a clay-covered Toyota iQ in the studio and applying typical Aston styling cues to it. Creating a leather clad urban commuter car struck us as a dubious proposition for an upscale brand like Aston Martin, but nevertheless the Cygnet is now complete and Aston has released a fresh batch of photos.
While the Aston Martin face is well suited to the extended nose of a DBS or Rapide, we think it looks more than a bit overwrought on the front of the tiny Toyota. On the inside, virtually all of the available surfaces have been covered in red and black premium leather. For the time being, the Cygnet is a concept only, but Aston says it hopes to have it in production in 2010 for European and UK customers.

Potentially Aston's most over priced car.
If released, how much more than a Toyota iQ will the Aston version be? Twice? Three times? Now even at those price points it may still be a fraction of the cost of a DB9, but with a DB9 you get so much more than a re-kitted, re-upholstered iQ.
I'm just saying, an Aston should be one part GT, one part sports car. This is brand dilution at its best, worse than what happened to Porsche and BMW's M.
Now if Aston started with a LFA....

If MINI Cooper can get a Rolls Royce edition, why not the iQ?
Love that lavish interior. The iPhone dock too. Those Britons still know how to do classy interiors right.

The interior superior. The exterior they could have tried to change it up a bit but true it had to be an Aston Martin. I do like the rear lights though.
Just sucks that the AM iQ only for sale to people who already have an AM

Don't worry, while it will initially be offered to existing Astom Martin customers, it is expected to go on general sale to the public once that demand is satisfied.
