Default Leaked: 2011 Mustang GT to Get 412-hp 5.0L V8

looks like someone couldn't keep it to themselves...

http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...-liter-v8.html

It’s official, the 5.0 is back! That’s right… we learned today that the iconic 5.0-liter will return in the 2011 Mustang GT with an impressive 412-hp. This information was released today and was embargoed until the 28th, but after a loose-lipped individual leaked the info, we’re certainly not going to sit back and miss out.

The output is still short of both the Challenger SRT8 and Camaro SS, but those vehicles weigh hundreds of pounds more, so the added power, combined with the ‘Stangs more nimble chassis should make the already superior performer a unanimous winner in the muscle cars wars.

Ford is set to debut the car at the Detroit Auto Show, and the return of the 5.0 was expected after Ford debuted a new 305-hp 3.7-liter V6 for the base Mustang at the LA Auto Show.

AutoGuide will bring you full coverage of the official debut on January 11th, unless, of course, more info is leaked… because we’re currently sitting on a long list of technical specs that will have five-oh fanatics drooling.

The 5.0 engine has always been top notch. I've had a 87 and 95 5.0 and took the 95 to 150k.. that engine is rock solid i swear.. At least now the GT is up to Saleen and Cobra specs in HP catagory..

07 Saleens are going for 29-35k on ebay..

and yes vettes are getting cheaper by the month it seems like.. I saw 05-06's going for 30k...

I just hope Ford updates the interior more.. Lets get ride of the plastic Shiat and make the doors solid for a change..

Can't wait for this stang..

If it's true, I highly doubt it will be the 5.0 that we all know here. That engine, in today's automotive climate is
archaic, at best, regardless of its HP numbers. No, more likely, it will be based on today's 4.6, just punched out. JMO

Yea i don't think Ford is going to do a complete redesign but you never know.punched out or bored out seems more logical less expensive. It would be nice to see that SHO Ecoturbo in the Mustang.. Regardless i hope the GT is Supercharged..

It's more than just a punched out 4.6, completely new motor with room to grow. which was the 4.6's original problem there just wasnt the room for it to get much bigger hence why the next step up was the 5.4 but again a different block then the 4.6. the 412hp the new 5.0 is just scratching the surface there plenty more left in it. Remember ford has a history of doing that. Remember back in 1996 the 4.6 debute rated it at a whopping 215hp, and is now bowing out at 315hp. There will be more to come from this new motor codenamed "coyote".
