"Beijing Autos has agreed to buy technology from GM’s Saab Automobile, a breakthrough for the Chinese automaker that could clear the way for General Motors Co. to sell the rest of Saab to another buyer.

Beijing Autos, also known as BAIC, said it plans to buy the rights to some powertrain technology for Saab’s 9-5 and 9-3 sedans, including engine and gearbox knowhow."

In my opinion, this deal will help the Chinese to gain some much needed knowledge on a turbocharged powertrain, which will be critical in the Chinese car market which seems to favor smaller engines.

So Saab is dead but the Chinese will buy some of the technology. Well suited for Saab. Make crap cars for the life of the company then die and live on in the body of lower quality Chinese cars. Poor Saab...Miserable

I guess the Chinese can learn from Saab about automotive safety technology as well. Saab have always been performance first but they do make pretty safe cars.
