I would go with a QX56, things have been constantly updated and several members on freshalloy have over 100k trouble free miles, thats including the Titan and Armadas, just using them for powertrain reference.

Infiniti is really aggressive with trying to move them, I would say if you go look at one, offer 10-15k off the sticker and then tell them you will not buy unless they throw in a full maintenance plan for 6 or 7 years 75K, that also includes tire and wheel coverage and complete bumper to bumper coverage for replacement parts like belts and hoses, they even offer that stuff up to 100k, just ask and be firm, thats if the truck interest you, it is big and among other reason you or ur wife may not like it.

Good luck with your search

GREAT advice here all... I have been looking at a Sienna replacement for us so know what you are talking about... based on your criteria (7 passenger), MDX is best... pre-owned, look at GX or Merc GL or maybe X5 (reliability)... if you go to 5 passengers, wide open but I'd take a Q5 over RX for sportiness...

IF you can go to $60K... much more premuim choices...

Good luck

Here are pictures I took of the Q5 S-Line if you're interested.

I had a MDX about 7 years ago, it’s an ok handling SUV, but its cheaply built. Meaning the material and workmanship are not Tier 1. The price of the MDX have gone up quite a bit since I bought mine years ago. I test drove the new one a few years back, handling is a bit better, but not even close to a X5. They must have added another 30 buttons to the dash, it’s confusing as heck. The sheet metal is paper thin, the wood trim panels are all plastic and the leather is very thin. Overall, like most Honda products, it has a nice engine and that’s it.
If I were you, I would suck it up and get the new GX. It now have the KDSS standard and should handle better than the last gen.

If you really need a useful third row SUV, consider a Mazda CX-9, or a full-size SUV like an Infiniti QX56, Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia, Ford Expedition\Lincoln Navigator or a preowned Mercedes-Benz GL450. Or get a minivan their third rows actually fit adults comfortably. If not a ML350 or a RX350, or maybe if there is still any 09 left over GX470s i'm sure they are willing to get rid of them.

7 passenger $40k to $50k? I would go with Acura MDX. Excellent looks, size, feature content, drive for the price.

MDX is the best of the bunch. If not, I'd say the GL or Q7.

I would have to pass on the Q5. As nice as it is, it's very small inside compared to the RX and especially small when compared to something like the MDX.

To be honest, my pick of all these would probably be a Toyota Highlander or Mazda CX9 but if you want to stay premium then I think the advice here will suit you well.

The Highlander Hybrid Limited is quite luxurious, shares the same chassis and hybrid drivetrain as the RX400h, and has the third row that you're looking for...

You are talking about cargo space right? Because the Q5's 1st and 2nd row passenger room is as big as the RX. The MDX is basically a minvan with AWD

When buying with kids in mind and you do not want a mini-van, best advice in this thread

The safest bet IMO is the RX, MDX (3rd row), ML in that order. All three are good choices but obviously the cost of long term ownership and reliability of the RX and MDX is hard to beat.

We had the same criteria in 2008, after about 3 months of searching we ended up getting a Tahoe LTZ out the door for 48K and 0% financing. We love the vehicle and it is a perfect fit for us, kids, hockey, mountains, towing, camping, dogs. Service and reliability may be a question but I only plan on keeping it 6-7 years at the most, paid off in 5.
