Default Daily Beater Suggestions

Hey everyone,

thought i'd make a quick thread, as i need some advice on a great daily driver. Im currently in the market of buying a DD with a relatively small budget (not looking to spend more than 4k). Just wondering with that budget, which cars should i consider?
(Keep in mind i would like the car to be FUN, manual daily beater that i can just drive and feel comfortable in, and maybe throw some mods on it a little later down the line.) the only car that i had in mind was a Integra DA (early 90's). any suggestions/advice would be greatful!!

I have had a few integra's and they are bullet proof, You can find some nice ones for around your price range, like here is one off the top of my head

Agreed, but I would avoid the Golf/GTI. VWs have too many electrical problems, particularly as they age. The Eclipse, in some forms, can be fun to drive, but, in general, is also poorly-built....most of the used ones I've seen have a number of problems with them, generally hardware items. Older Mitsubishi engines also tend to start to have upper-block problems after 80-90K miles or so. If you look at a Subaru, try and avoid those with non-turbo 2.5L engines built before 2003-2004 (they had a lot of head-gasket problems). Some Camry 3.0L V6s have an oil-gel/sludge problem, but most Camry V6s were built automatics......you said you wanted a manual.

My friend bought an Acura CL for less than 3k. Maybe he got lucky but that thing was running strong and looks good. Gets 30+mpg too.

Again, agreed. I was especially impressed with the build quality of the 3rd-generation ones built during the mid-late 1990's, with the round-quad-headlights. A friend of mine has a 1999 model (one of the last of that generation) and still uses it as a daily driver.
