IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported December 2009 sales of 18,255, up 1.6 percent versus December 2008, and the strongest single month of the last four. "Going in, we knew 2009 was going to be an extremely difficult year, and it lived up to its early billing all the way to the end," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, MNAO. "We reduced our fleet sales all year long to focus on long-term brand strength, residual values and profitability. With December coming in higher than last year, optimism is strong for a brighter 2010."

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) celebrated its best sales month ever. The company sold 3,115 vehicles, up 15 percent versus last December. December also marks the first month MMdM has reported sales of more than 3,000 units. For 2009, MMdM reported 18,914 total sales, accounting for a 14 percent decrease versus 2008. The all-new MAZDA3 and the CX-9 each recorded their best-ever sales months in December.

Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) reported December sales of 4,261 units, down 5.5 percent compared to December 2008. Overall sales for 2008 were down 13.3 percent compared to overall 2008 sales, with 73,672 units sold.

Download image FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Motor America today announced December sales of 33,797, up more than 40 percent versus December 2008. For the full year, Hyundai reported 435,064 sales, up eight percent over the prior year total. Default Porsche Reports December Sales

ATLANTA - January 5, 2010: Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars, Cayenne SUVs and Panamera Gran Turismos in the United States, today announced December sales in the U.S. of 2,118, essentially on par with the same period last year when it sold 2,154. December’s total was the German automaker’s best monthly retail result of 2009.

“Less than three months on the market, the new Panamera has enjoyed strong sales growth, and our incoming orders for this model are stronger as we enter 2010”

For calendar year 2009, Porsche sold a total of 19,696 new cars in the U.S., down 24 percent from 2008 when it sold 26,035.

Sales of Porsche’s newest entry, the 2009 Panamera Gran Turismo, which went on sale in late October, were 521 for the month.

“Less than three months on the market, the new Panamera has enjoyed strong sales growth, and our incoming orders for this model are stronger as we enter 2010,” said PCNA President and CEO, Detlev von Platen. “From an overall standpoint in 2009, while we were down from the previous year we saw considerable improvement on a year-to-year basis during the second half of the year, and our best-selling sports car, the 911, gained market share over its class. We are increasingly optimistic that we can continue this momentum in 2010.”

For the month, Porsche’s Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) cars enjoyed sales of 477 versus 339 during the same period in 2008. For the year, CPO total sales for 2009 were 6,582 compared to 6,617 in 2008.

Great job to Lexus for holding the sales crown once again. It's obvious more people choose to purchase a Lexus...I'm sure Lexus will be able to do it again for 2011...

The all-new HS model helped by about 6k+ units, this is the first all-new model in almost a decade for Lexus, whereas Mercedes, BMW & Audi kept adding brand new car models in that period. If Lexus keep adding more new models to fill more niches, their sales should increase even more ...

Look at the LS's December surge too, it appeared the 2010 model's availability came very late, so for a while, I though they are toast ...

Holy mother of God, the RX sales are out of this universe. It even outsold the 3 series.

On the other hand, how did Infiniti sell over 1000 of Qx56, I thought they weren't selling?
