MR2 had too short of a run to be on the list and the RX-7TT? Nothing but issues with that car-and yes, owned one of them too. Brakes were horrible, fuel issues, always something, yes, it does have a strong aftermarket following, and I would select it over some on the list such as the Ford Mustang Turbo.

The 3Gen RX-7 TT was indeed deserving in the engine compartment, but was built from too-light materials in the frame/chassis (Like a Lotus, that light weight was one of the secrets to its great performance). But the lightweight aluminum structure, with scant insulation, not only let in copious amounts of road/tire/wind noise (I remember test-driving one on coarse surfaces), but the suspension/steering components also had a tendency to bend or break on the rough, potholed roads here in the U.S....one reason, among several, why Mazda pulled it from the American market after just a couple of years. It also shared in the same problems with high sticker price and high insurance costs that drove its competitiors......Supra, Stealth, 3000 GT, and 300ZX from the American market as well.
