Post The Acura useless press releases continue....Acura to follow Lexus and sell hybrids

So people clowned the HS and Lexus for hybrids and Acura will make a HS competitor and follow suit......

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/21/r...id-powertrain/

Closely following Honda CEO Takanobu Ito's admission at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month that the Acura brand would soon jump head-first into the deep end of the hybrid waters comes a report from Automotive News suggesting that the entry-level TSX sedan would be the first such model from Honda's luxury brand so equipped.

AN's source is an unnamed Acura dealer who says the hybrid technology will grace the TSX's engine bay starting in 2011. TSX not your cup of tea? Fret not. John Mendel, American Honda Motor Co. executive vice president for auto sales, says that there will be more Acura hybrid models to follow – though, for what it's worth, there won't be any V8 engines any time soon.

Ironically in light of Acura's recent addition of giant metal beaks, company spokesman Gary Robinson adds, "The idea of the big, bad luxury sedan with the shiniest grille has become a little uncouth." Robinson adds that Acura isn't in the business of "making compromises," insinuating that future cars from the automaker will combine fuel efficiency with appropriate performance and luxury.

hahahahahahahhahaha....seriously...hahahahah...the IRONY!!

So these morons give Acura's "Uncouth" styling with the biggest, ugliest, shiniest grill and they say its a bad idea?

Why are these morons allowed to talk to the press?

This guy said EXACTLY what I said in my thread about Acura/BMW months ago (which was linked all over).

Acura needs to start engineering again (and start talking less to the press).

Acura needs to do ANYTHING (and making more beaked cars doesn't count)

If it's gonna be an Acura-badged Insight, I'm gonna punch babies and puppies at random...

We've seen plenty of quotes, promises and press releases from Acura so I'm going to take a wait and see attitude on this one and reserve judgment until I can go visit the car at my local dealer.

This isn't an Acura press release

Oh, here comes another 5-7 page thread of the same old posts. The beak, kill Acura, etc, etc.

The TSX is Acura's best looking car, depending on the numbers, a hybrid TSX is not a bad idea. Maybe Acura will change their Grille for the hybrid lineup, that would be a god send.

Correct, just quotes and promises

I know I'm hanging onto the past and I so want Acura to be successful. I'm just at the point now that I'd like to see evidence in the showroom before I buy into it.

Acura needs to stop talking to the press plain and simple. They talk to the press more than any other luxury brand, yet they deliver the least.

I can see it now. A 1.3L engine and a duracell 9 Volt.

A smart company would recognize that Toyota sells 40k Camry hybrids each year on average. They would pair their hybrid powertrain with their 2.4L and put it in the Accord, TSX, and CR V.

Never mind the hybrids. Bring on the TSX Sportwagon....especially with the SH-AWD. We need a good alternative to the Honda Crosstour.

I've always thought that is a nice looking small wagon (or whatever tricky name they'd give it in the U.S.). With all of the crossovers on the market, maybe something like that would sell now.
