Do ANY luxury cars get good MPG???

To the OP asking about the NSX; it was a full Comptec car, so cams, port/polish, valves, springs, headers, exhaust, intake, gears, diff, brakes, etc.

My 93 Seville gets 24mpg on the highway. Thats an 18 year old car with a 4.9L V8 weighing in at almost 2 tons with 275lbs of torque. I'd say that's pretty damn good.
Of course, it gets around 12-14mpg in the city

I think that's your problem right there.

I can get up to 21 mpg out of my V12 S600 on sustained freeway journeys... Thats about as far as I can push it but it is not that bad for a 510 hp 5,100 pound vehicle. Combined town and freeway is more in the 15-17 mpg range.
I drive carefully and am not heavy footed. The lowest I have ever "attained" is 9 mpg in endless stop go traffic going up a steep hill.

Your MPG is incredible on the highway. My post was in reference that hybrids are silly for luxury brands, which I disagree with. We both know there is a market for I-4, hybrids, V-8s, V-12s, and now V-12 turbos

The IS250 or A4 2.0T are the cars to have if you want some luxury and good mileage. Anything faster and you are either going to pay for it or lose the MPG's.
Driving habits and how you describe them vary greatly from person to person and that is a big factor with the numbers.
I've found over the years there are ways to get what the EPA advertises. Looking ahead one block and pre-determining what the signal color will be is one way to save on gas. There are more techniques, but no one is going to want to drive like that, especially an enthusiast.

In Winter, my GS350 AWD averages 11 MPG. I kicked 3G Prius's butt around the city, accel/brake, accel/brake, and got 40 MPG. Would probably get 8 MPG in my GS... And Prius has pretty darn good low speed acceleration, i was not missing anything ;-). Well, except those huge GS leather wrapped armchairs ;-).
Apperantly new Lexus hybrid hatch is coming out this year in Europe... Toyota european boss quoted it and facelifted Auris as stars of renewed push in Europe for 2010.

If its all stop and go traffic, then you should really get a Hybrid like the Lexus HS.

HS250h should be averaging 50 mpg but its 33 mpg. Not sure why Lexus would do something like that or it might be Toyota own fault for not allowing Lexus to have similar specs as the SAI
The HS250h would probably have been the first luxury hybrid with the best mpg.

also, you've owned sporty cars for no reason if you can never drive them faster.
