Think about this for a minute.....Rusted frames = NON JDM parts, Pedal issues = NON JDM parts etc.....etc....

Toyota was great when it had nothing to do with the states and that is the bottom line. We all went non domesitc for clear reasons so why would Toyota trust domestics parts and labor??? Here in the US we just dont have the pride anymore.

Good point.
I try not to buy vehicles made here.

of course... dealers were already on the fence as it is... drop in sales could kill some of them...

.... all automotive dealers around the world are suffering liqudity problems right now, with drop of sales coupled with dramatic drop of profits (nobody is making money on cars in europe anymore, it is all about who will discount them more).

that is really not true. Watanabe became president in June 2005.
Toyota had big problems with MZ and ZZ engines series that were designed up to 8-9 years before that. If anything, you could say that Fujio Cho was at helm when issues started. Wanatabe actually improved quality compared to what it was in late 90's and early to mid 2000's...

I'll still go with Watanabe.
He is responsible for Toyota problems today which are much worse than anytime earlier.

Another story, just yesterday. What do you think, car issue, or driver issue? Either way, it doesn't make Toyota look good.

Deaths and the temporarily halting of sales of eight models trumps oil sludged engines and rusted frames,IMO.

there were no reports of any accident related to gas pedals, and no report of it ever getting stuck (just possibility of it). But thats internet for you I guess.

I've read of 19 deaths and plenty of reports of unintended acceleration problems.True or not,Toyota stopped the sale of 8 models for safety reasons due to a faulty gas pedal assembly.

Under Watanabe's watch?
"CTS became a pedal supplier in 2005. Accordingly, our products are not implicated by the November 2009 recall. The products we supply to Toyota, including the pedals covered by the recent recall, have been manufactured to Toyota’s design specifications."

I saw this on the news last night. I would tend to think this is driver error, because if the gas pedal was stuck, she would be going much slower as she pulled into the parking spot. But--agreed--it looks bad.

Definately an 86 year olds, Driver error. The pedals get stuck. They dont go down on their own. If it lurches into a laundry mat, while pulling into a parking space... she pushed the accelerator down too far.

Case closed.

Toyota better get ready, because they are going to be blamed for every accident involving a toyota for the forseeable future.
