Depends. The civic SI models are generally ran harder than the LX/EX. The B16 engine is a proven one. Honda has had that 160hp engine since 1988. It's as bulletproof as it gets, but you do need to look out for other things. For the most part, I wouldn't hesitate to get it as a daily driver if it was maintained well.

As has been stated, when you live on the highway, the clutch is doing nothing. Why is it so hard to believe?

I know a 2007 Yaris owner who will be hitting 400,000 miles in a couple of weeks (10 hour a day courier). He's got the original clutch on his too. Everything is original in fact except for a recently changed alternator.

Eh. I've seen a couple of fourth gen Maxima owners hit 900,000 miles on their cars at maxima.org. Only got 247,000 on mine (so far).

You put in 5th gear and keep on driving until you have to go to the rest room. The guy seems quite nice, and you'd think people like him with some well known clients are more likely to cruise around in a big Benz.

Si probably gets in spirited driving often by the previous owners, redline to 8-9K, engine not properly broken in, etc.

But if you want a reliable car, a manual transmission is almost a must - it's much easier to change fluid on that. (Honda's slushboxes especially with V6 models have had various issues.) plus diligent maintenance.

i'm with Yaris, its not that hard to believe the clutch being original. It's probably only been used about 20-30k miles out of the 700+K.

My brother drives for work and and keeps his car for about 300k miles. I took his last van a 2002 sienna in 05' with 290 k miles and after lots of oil changes and 3 timing belts later it still ran perfect.

On a side note....i would hate to drive that much...

Let me guess... he would probably say something like this... The Accord are are reliable especially with the manual transmission. They had issue with auto tranny in the early 2000. The shifter is butter smooth and one of the best out there. The interior is top notch but the ride is not as smooth as the Camry... My recent review of the Accord http://www.clublexus.ya da ya da.com.

I've long said that, in general, the build quality of Honda/Acura products impresses me more than that of any other company, though some others come close.

Because the worst traffic I have ever been in has been on the highway. Construction, accidents, bad weather creates traffic jams. Highway driving doesnt simply just involve your highest gear 100% of the time.
