that's exactly what i was wondering when I saw this article. Im guessing they want a whole new image. TRD has been around since forever even tho there are no sport cars in toyotas line. The only thing close to sporty are all the baja trucks and they rock TRD all the time and I'd honestly love a supercharged 5.7L V8!!

lol Gazoo!

I think "GS" will only cause confusion between the Lexus GS and the G-Sport.

TRD means Toyota Racing Development and they take that quite seriously. They are more dedicated to engineering for and supporting Toyota's racing efforts. They one in a while do special vehicle packages, but they really haven't made their "own" vehicles apart form TRD Australia's Aurion and Hilux. The TRD2000GT and 3000GT where package deals too. TRD USA sucks donkey ***** btw, especially in comparison to technocraft (TRD Japan) and (the now defunct...for the moment) TRD Australia.

All in all though, I wonder if there are any hurt feelings over this, or if all 3 divisions (Modellista, TRD, Gazoo) will all do their part in hitting the G-Sports

I totally blanked about their other TRD divisions especially in Australia--I remember seeing a really awesome TRD saloon. I also wonder if F-Sport will get in on the development

That freakin Aurion or whatever it is called is absolutely stunning to look at. Can not believe that it is related to the Camry.

It also sucks that they couldnt sell many/any of them.

It's a shame we will never get a Camry of that caliber. We had a shot at potential performance several years back with the Gen 4 Camry and the TRD package (S/C, Kit, wheels, suspension and etc.) but it was not reliable and it was really expensive.

I think they should just expand with what they already have-TRD. What is up with G? 'Check out my G-ride eh'. I don't know, just does not flow.
Agree with others, get your house in order first before venturing into something else.

Hmm.........

So it's TRD>G sports>Tom's>Modellista then?

If all the above mentioned companies are owned by or are part of the Toyota group, then I can't see what problem will arise from this.......

This is awesome news. I can easily support this effort by Toyota. It appears that Toyota has finally realized that they are not positioned well against the Camaro, GT-R, 300Z and Genesis Coupe.

I predict the announcement of the return of the Toyota Supra
