Default Most Reliable Lexus

What is the most reliable Lexus Model, whether statistically or in your opinion?

We can even get into which generation, etc. Some say the LS430?

In terms of statistics, such as JD Power, the most reliable Lexus has been the LS 430...and in some years, also the SC 430.

I'd say that every 430 series Lexus and late 400 series Lexus models are bulletproof. Unless you start molesting them with aftermarket garbage they just last forever.

I'd say SC430 and then the LS430.

Hands down the Lexus LX450.

Built on a 30 year design life, very few things to go wrong like Adaptive (Variable suspension, comuputerized climate controls, power rear hatches, air springs and no power telescoping steering wheel to suddently slow down)...

I recall a previous thread here in Car Chat a few months ago: a German survey found the IS300 to be the most reliable used car.

Let's face it, we're splitting hairs here. All models mentioned in this thread are extremely reliable, and external factors such as maintenance and driving style will play a bigger role in determining reliability.

I would guess that the 2nd generation is the most reliable (on a hunch). Also models without air suspension gizmos

Honestly, not sure I can name just one. We also have to remember a 1992 Lexus will have a lot less parts to go wrong than a 2010 Lexus. It is quite amazing Lexus continues to do pretty well with quality considering how much more complicated they are.

In surveys I've read the IS 300 in Europe and the SC 430 here. What makes the SC 430 more remarkable is it is a complicated hardtop convertible.

Having owned various years, they all have been very reliable for me and they all have had quirks and not been perfect.

According to Consumer Reports (which I consider the auto-reliability Bible) the LS and 1Gen IS models seem to have been the most reliable, though the RX also ranks way up there too. In fact, with the possible exception of some late-model GS AWD models, virtually all Lexus models have ranked above or well-above average in reliability. The IS300 I owned, and the later Subaru Outback I now own, have been, up to now, the two most reliable vehicles I've ever had, although the 2001-2002 IS had a couple of minor, but stubborn, transmission ECU quirks. The IS300, at one time, ranked as the top vehicle overall in Consumer Reports reliability data-base. So did the Honda CR-V, a few years ago.

Dare we say, what are some of the least reliable of the Lexus lineup then?

Complexity does not necessarily mean unreliability, Mike....that is an old, inaccurate stereotype. There are other, reliable, non-Lexus models that are also rather complex.......witness the Infiniti M series, Acura RL, and Toyota Land Cruiser, though the Land Cruiser's design, of course, is shared with the Lexus LX.

Until the recent gas-pedal fiascos, probably the GS AWD. It has been below average for several years.

LX470 is the worst I have heard of.

Cracked exhaust manifold issue, height control issues, some body rust and frame corrosion are some of the issues I have heard of
