I never knew about the 4.2 diesel, how does Mercedes get away with making so many variations. Its incredible!

The V8 diesel S class is an extremely low volume car. It makes zero sense (to me) but I am sure people interested in prestige based on what's under the hood find it appealing. It's also quite fuel efficient from what I've read using about a liter more of diesel than the S350 CDI.

I once read in the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport that it makes up less than 1% of all S class sales in Europe. So you can imagine how small (or non-existent) the market for this car is.

I mean seriously, can't we all agree the entire class is fantastic? Why does one have to be better than the other all the time? Why? Hell at least they are IN the class.

The S400 Hybrid makes a lot of sense in Asia-Pacific markets with high taxes.

I say that more than 90% of S-Class sales here are the S 350 models. Less than 10% go to the AMG models (S63 and S65) and then 1% to other models (i.e. S500, S600, S420 CDI, etc.)

Adding the S400 Hybrid here makes a lot of sense here to be slotted in between the S350 and the S class AMG models.

I still think the 7-series and S-class are still a cut above the LS460...kind of like how USDA Prime is a cut about AAA

Not so much the A8 or Jag....
