While the first SC is not even worth mentioning (at least not in terms of design) the second one proved to be a pretty strong player. It was the first luxury cabriolet with 2 + 2 seats and got to be known all over the world due to various rap clips . The Lexus design changed dramatically in 2005, when the beta "L-finesse" produced the magnificent second IS. The 2007 LS further pointed that the IS was no accident and Toyotas can also look stunning. We can now dare and dream at the third generation SC that could bring us the rough-sporty side of the "L-finesse" philosophy. . An increased wheelbase should be a must on the new car, that way it can have descent rear room, and a real chance against the competition

It's just a rendering LOL, and I don't see why it has to have an increased wheelbase and decent rear room to have a real chance against the competition
I personally prefer the next SC to be a two-seater roadster, they don't really need another 4-seater coupe/convertible IMO, unless they decide to produce a large coupe/convertible based on the LS instead.

IMO the SC needs to GET RID of the worthless back seat.

That article made me lol as soon as it said the 1st gen SC was nothing in terms of design. Another example of horrid writing.
At the time the SC was hailed as one of the most bold designs inside and out. Automobile picked it as the best interior of ANY car. Today the car still is timeless.
How the hell do these writers get a job?

This rendering is okay, but not great by any means. The original SC design, like everyone here who knows about cars, was 20+ years ahead in design compared to any car out there. It still look fabulous to me and I still admire one when I see it on the road. The proportions are just perfect for a coupe.
I just hope Lexus will get the guys over at Calty to do the next redesign, if there is one. I remember watching a video of Erwin Lui on YouTube saying they didn't do drawings for the car and approached it like a sculpture. It shows. Nowadays, you can see the influence of computer aided designs.

I agree. The SC (to me) was always the SL's rival. Luxury roadsters for the well to do and it should still be the same. I don't want to see a 6-series SC, unless they do a large sports coupe too...a la, junior LFA.

I prefer the overall idea of the 1SC over the 2SC. A true Lexus coupe should be that of a 2 door car with a hardtop not a bubbly looking convertible with a hard top. Some may disagree with me, but the current 2SC was never one of my favorite Lexus designs. The 1SC should have continued in it's true form as a real 4 seater, 2 door car.
