Considering a new A4 (AWD) or A3 Tdi at the moment.
Test drove the TDI tonight, I was expecting more of the Audi feel as far as comfort/ride but experienced more of a Golf Ride. It was peppy and wasn't as bad as I thought. The dual moonroof was a nice surprise. The interior wasn't nearly as nice as an A4 but it wasn't that bad at the same time.
I think I need more seat time in the car but the gas mileage is really attractive. Don't know what kind of pricing they will give me when I'm ready yet though.
I'm currently in escrow so the soonest I can get a car is a month from now. Lease ends at the end of April.
I'd consider buying it as opposed to leasing if I knew I would be comfortable with this speed for a long time and also the car is due to a refresh since the Golf just got its refresh. I prefer the exterior styling of the A3 much more than the Golf also.
Is the Jetti TDI much more plush than the A3/Golf? As far as comfort/ride?

my thoughts excatly, they should be able to lower your buyout price, seems very common these days. they knocked off almost 9k for my E350 buyout price, couldn't pass it up. I really think the 335i is the best car in it's class, everything else would be a dissapointment (if you like that driving experience).

Update: I ended up with an Alpine White 335D E90. I absolutely love it. The engine is still breaking in but it is excellent. I really love it more so than I did my 335i Coupe. The new I-Drive/Navi is very fast and much, much improved. The HD navi is such a big upgrade as well.

Congragulations. Though higher-priced, brand-new, than I care to spend, the 335, especially the AWD xi model, has long been my favorite American-market BMW. And, even with its steep price, the 335, on the average, IMO, is still a substantially better value, dollar-for-dollar, than the M3.

^^ Indeed!
And thanks Mmarshall. The incentives really made the buy make sense. If I had time, I would've done Euro Delivery ($500 over European Invoice) AND Eco-Credit ($4500 back).

I didnt have a truck, so I put the SC to do WORK!
My advice is try and get the house before May (if you can find one suitable for your needs), settle on your payments for it, and THEN see how much you have left over, in the rest of your budget for for car payments and other expenses. Then we can talk about a replacement for your 335.
If you need to actually replace your car BEFORE you get a new house.......well, then, we can go from there.

Congrats on your purchase! What is the monthly payment if you dont mind me asking.

About $650 or so after tax (8.75%). 0 down. Pretty loaded car, Nav, Premium, Sport, Sirius Radio, Heated Seats, Front/rear PDC, etc..
Currently in the house.
People are getting real world 40mpg on the 335D on the highway post break-in. With the eco credit, the car is currently cheaper than the 335i, which was just a win-win situation for me. Where I live, Diesel can cost slightly more or slightly less than Premium, depending on the gas station. Finding a diesel gas station isn't a problem in Southern California either. Urea injections are also part of the maintenance program.
Due to the torque, the city driving to me is much more enjoyable than a stock 335i.

The engine is pretty darn quiet. It is a little noiser than the 335i but you won't notice it with the windows rolled up. It is also a little noiser at idle when warming up. All and all, you forget it is a diesel most of the time and your passengers never realize it at well. You should test drive one.
Found a couple of videos here:

There's other vids on youtube..
Less of a carbon footprint.
Better gas mileage.
Cheaper than the 335i.
Tons of fun (see 425 lbs/tq @ 1750 rpm)
Less fill-ups at the gas station.
No HPFP issues as seen in the 335i.
Mmarshall - Have you reviewed the new BMW I-Drive btw?
