Man-Made: Buiilding the Veyron
It aired last night, did anyone catch it?
I thought there was going to more of the assembly shown but just by watching last night, I gained a whole new level of appreciation (and fear) of this machine.

Just some interesting points:
That sensor in the wing would terrify me of failing. Easily the most critical part of the car.
Tires are hand made and rated to 270+ mph and tested in the ultimate S&M machine.
Wing provides 1/3 of the braking power.
Car needs 4,000 horsepower to stop from 200+ mph.
10 radiators for cooling
Two 8 cylinder engines merged together - takes 4-5 weeks to build.
Could easily do over 253 mph but car becomes unstable so it is electronically limited.
Frame is hand welded and assembled in three main pieces...
Dual Clutch Transmission - two gears engaged at once - next gear is already pre-selected and initiated when opposite clutch is engaged, making for shift changes within the blink of an eye.
Rotors are hand made

there is only 10 radiators? somehow i thought it's 14, but yeah definitely a lot all around the car
similar kind of tranny is used in a few other vehicles already, seems like the way to go for future sport cars
not a big fan of the look but definitely appreciate the car, i was so glad to see my boss driving one, crazy guy

Funny quote from the video: "At 250 mph the tires are only going to last about 15 minutes. That's Okay, though, because the the fuel in the tank will only last about 12."

That episode gave me a new out look on this car. With out a dought the most impressive car out there.
The Number one thing that got me was $17000 for a set of tires
And $100 for one bolt. And of course the wing

You know whats funny is how when I mentioned this car as my car of the decade people freaked. I think its only because they dont know enough about this vehicle. One member actually slammed me for chosing it then stated that he didnt even know what the car was.
The Veyron is more of a technical feat than a car. The prius is amazing but not that unique. We have had hybrids for a long long time. I challenge anyone to find a 8 liter, 16 cylinder, quad turbo motored car with a top speed of 253 mph. To me this car represents the ultimate in engineering and design in the history of the automobile. There was never an equal and there will most likely never be a vehicle to top this.

I'm guessing you haven't seen the video. James May is probably the only person on earth to test the actual claimed top speed of the Bugatti Veyron. He hits the claimed 253 but just barely and it wasn't easy. It was aerodynamic drag holding this car back, not a speed limiter.
