you are not going to race with genesis. what's LS's quarter mile? i bet it's very similar. genesis is a perfect highway cruiser.

if the big, comfy RWD is his thing then you can't go wrong with genesis. again, hyundai is giving out great deal on genesis. you can get one for below 40k right now.

lexus ls460 sport had 14.5 quarter mile. 14.1 isn't too bad. it's a big car.

I looked at cars in that class but found that a pre-owned LS430 was more car with lower cost of ownership.

Then why buy the V8?
Get the 6 and save $4K.
No doubt you can get one for under $40K.
Genesis sales aren't great.

Out of the three.... for a driver

I'm looking at the VPP to see if what deal I can swing... stay tuned...

Oh yeah, I live in the snow belt (WI) which HIGHLY influences this... and YES, I am FINALLY closing on my long-delayed, CL-entertaining purchase(s)... the DD first

how about 95 more horses? it has bigger brakes, and it just rides better. 17/25 isn't bad.

only reason to go with v6 is that it sucks less gas. my buddy has v6, he gets way better than the official EPA rating. we drove charleston to atlanta together and we avg. around 29 mpg. and go to genesis forum and most of them gets over 27 highway.

also hyundai's residual value is getting better and better. new sonata is at 54%. last year, genesis was at 47.5%. i think sonata's 54% is among the top in its class.

i would get a white one. honestly, i do like maxima, and it's aggressive styling, but at the end of the day it's a FWD. it drives like FWD too. go test drive it and compare it with genesis v8. genesis completely outclasses maxima IMO.

i haven't driven G37 yet. but i just don't like the design. and it's much smaller car than genesis. but obviously if you want something more sporty, then g37 is way to go.

You still don't give a valid reason to get a V8 Genesis over a V6. Of course it has bigger brakes because it has a more front heavy engine. And how does it ride better again?

You also haven't shown why the Genesis is better than the other cars listed even though you have more post in this thread than anyone else.

If the OP wants to buy the car the Genesis will probably end up with the worse resale value. The Maxima is a proven car, and has an excellent track record. The Maxima still has the best resale value for it's class. The G will probably also hold its value also do to the fact that it comes from a luxury name plate.

Hyundais traditionally have poor resale values and I'm sure the Genesis will be no better. Who wants to spend that much money for a car that won't hold half its value with in a year or two?

Anyway, if the OP wants to lease then the Genesis might make more sense, but Infiniti traditionally always has good lease rates on their cars, so even then the Genesis might not be the best choice for the money.

... Lexus IS?

Out of those 3 I said the Infiniti, not my first choice, but I'm not the most "practical" person so I'm not sure how much my opinion counts

Why is the Genesis even in the list if you live in the snowbelt

why people buy v8 over v6 in general anyway? v8 is smoother, has more power, and it feels more substantial. that's just my opinion. v6 does everything well too, but that slight difference is definitely worth the money IMO. i would rather drive gs460 than gs350. that's just me. and the actual price difference between genesis v6 to v8 is only about 3k. i would gladly pay 3k for more power and 2 more cylinders.

if he doesn't mind more wind noise, less power, FWD then maxima is a nice buy. but please do yourself a favor. drive maxima and go to hyundai dealer and drive genesis v8. it's not really comparable IMO. genesis v8 is more closer to LS than maxima.

if you want to buy the car with the highest resale value then go with honda. i put 15-17k a year and i intend to keep my car for at least 6 years. but if he wants to sell his new car 3 years later then maybe genesis isn't a right car for him.

Two locals swear traction control makes it drive well in snow... but I PERSONALLY do not know this, and snow melted before a test drive this weekend... but my drives on dry surfaces, HUGE

Yep, guess my vote is known by now... I think G37 is best $ value on any surface and AWD for WI just clinches it... IMO

Thx much guys... as always CL confirms my thoughts, MUCH APPRECIATE the validation!!!

Footnote: BMW 335xi was over $50K
