Apples and oranges. While ABS, of course, is integrated WITH the regenerative-braking systems in today's hybrids, the two are definitely NOT the same. The "funny" ABS feel is due to the pedal vibration and rumbling noise you get when the computer rapidly pumps the brakes....up to 100 times per second. The "funny" feel of regenerative braking/deceleration is something else altogether.....and results primarily from the drag effects of the deceleration acting on the electric motor to produce current to help recharge the battery pack. Sometimes addditional "funny" feels will result from the transition from normal regenerative braking to ABS, and then back again....or any combination of the two.

Good article, but it will make no difference as the news media now feeds on each new piece of information with renewed gusto and enthusiasm. Today it is the Corolla which has had some 80 complaints of the car drifting right or left, requiring to use both hands on the wheel. This is out of some 900,000 sold in the US alone last year. You can do the math. Every car can have issues of it drifting due to specs being a bit out of line or misinflated tires. Yet the media reported it today as another 'troubling safety issue for the beleagured auto company'. Even Fox Business News which is usually pretty level headed with all things business is hysterical with analyst Tracy Byrnes going nuts over these dangerous cars Toyota is selling. This is a nightmare that can befall any company. All it takes is one unfortunate incident (the Lexus ES accident) that is picked up by the media to ruin a good company. I do believe Toyota was slow to grasp the seriousness of the media piling on and grabbing at a non-issue and now they are behind the eight ball as know nothing media nignogs breathlessly try to scoop each other to prove that Toyota deliberately puts out deathmobiles for some nefarious reason. It's sick. There are basically NO ethics in journalism today, it is all about grabbing attention. If you have to bend or ignore facts to suit your desired outcome, so be it.

the news media is the news media. The problem is that most people watch it like theres going to be a test on it. The media actually forms the popular opinion in some situations
