L-finesse: The art of Lexus
Someting I came across just recently. Not sure if this has been posted up but for those who don't know what Lexus' design philosophy is, this is the official L-finesse Lexus website.
What is L-finesse? It is seamless anticipation, incisive simplicity and intriguing elegance.
More on L-finesse can be found here...
Official website: L-finesse - The art of Lexus
L-finesse design language was first introduced with the LFS concept, which later became the 3GS as we know it today.

Thanks for sharing flipside . "seamless anticipation, incisive simplicity and intriguing elegance." Sounds like marketing BS BIG TIME to me. I understand the need to describe their design philosophy ( and they did it well), but it still sounds like BS marketing.
"seamless anticipation" really???????? I want someone to describe this to me and show me examples on their cars of "seamless anticipation."
I guess this is what english majors do for work>LMAO
I posted a video on the history of Lexus a few months ago and they used the same phrase to describe their design philosophy. I am sure they had to work on that marketing line for a while. It sounds amazing but is pushing the BS quotient imho

One thing I find that Lexus does very well is how their door closes, it actually gives me a comforting feeling that I'm secure, the way it closes, the noise it makes. Makes me feel protected.

The way I interpret "seamless anticipation" is that with the flow of the L-finesse design, each design cue connects seamlessly into the next, in a way of anticipating the next curve or form.

'Seamless anticipation' supposedly refers to having the vehicle prepare for your needs before you 'ask', examples including:
1. SmartAccess puddle lamps and door handles light up as you approach the car.
2. Easy ingress and egress design for maximum smoothness of operation.
3. Ergonomic interior features where everything is at your fingertips.
That's what I've interpreted it as being based on what I read about L-finesse. Yes, it is marketing, but there does seem to be some concrete elements as well.

Things like Acura's "Keen-Edge Dynamic" styling with its controversial "Power Plenum" grille. BMW's "flame surfacing" terminology, Toyota's "Vibrant Clarity", even Cadillac's "Art & Science" etc.
