Welcome to the world of automotive ripoffs. Trim pieces, especially from dealer parts-departments, can be outrageous. As J.P. noted, though, that particular part may be available on E-Bay at a much cheaper price...if insurance doesn't cover it.

 

I wonder how much a car would cost, if each part was purchased separately at dealer prices, and then assembled together (not including the cost of labor).

I bet your average Lexus would probably cost well over 200k.
