Audi RS5 Official Thread (its coming to America!)

like primecut said, read the link, it's v8. i just don't see how the v10 will make its way to this car. it's not a m6 fighter

Similar to how an A5 S-line optioned out eclipses a base S5, an S5 optioned out will eclipse a base RS5 - Audi definitely plans this to get you to consider "upgrading"). S5 starts at the 52's, expect this to start 65 - 67, optioned out close to 80. Much higher than that and they start to encroach on territory it can't compete with.
450hp is sweet...317lb-ft is a little less so. None the less I am really digging the RS5.

"The potent 444-horsepower 4.2-liter V8 FSI engine generates 317 pound-feet of torque and is mated to Audi's seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission, which can be controlled by shift paddles on the steering wheel. Audi also has incorporated a new self-locking crown-gear center differential that can distribute torque widely from front to rear through the car's permanent all-wheel drive."
I get that many horsepower with my JoeZ intake and exhaust.

Haha nice 444 horsepower (though many Chinese peeps will consider this as misfortune).
It's like the S4 with its 333 horsepower.
P.S.
With that said, I wonder if the next-gen RS6 will have.....666 HORSEPOWER

Audi clearly wants and needs to protect its Halo model and putting a V10 in the RS5 would not be a smart business move.

Yep. I think people forget that the R8 comes with the same V8 offered in this RS5 with about 30 less horsepower. If the RS5 came with the same V10 offered in the uplevel R8, it would totally cannibalize sales IMO and would make the R8 V8 completely pointless.

I agree, this is the same thing with people speculating the GS-F will get the LF-A's V10, but it just would not make sense.

I have trouble understanding Audi's lineup, the A4 and the A5 are essentially the same, except the A5 is a coupe? What about the A3, is that suppose to be it's hatch version? If it is suppose to compete against the C63/M3 then I think those power ratings are just about right.
