how are they still unsafe? wasn't everyone offered replacement tires?

Ford recalled 15 million cars due to them catching fire as recently as 4-5 months ago... but those are small numbers.
how many DID catch fire?

LaHood stated 2 days ago that his agency will not rest, until every Toyota is safe. That pretty much tells you everything you need to know.
yes i agree, it's a ridiculous witch hunt to help the UAW.

It's generally agreed that 550 vehicles have caught fire by this defect which have not only destroyed the vehicles but also houses and other property. Can you imagine the hysteria if something like this would be discovered in a Toyota product today? Yet there was hardly any media attention to the Ford recall which dragged on for years as they resisted it all the way.

ford had the benefit of low expectations.

again, looking for equal treatment is pointless.

another thing to consider is if the tables were turned, and incidents happened in japan, ford would be trashed and toyota given a break. all politics is local.
